The team members have been selected from the players who have participated in the GNC and NAWS Soccer competitions.

Since this is a joint proposal by the GNC and NAWS members, the Management Committee consists of representatives from both Associations.

The Initiative & Motivation
The values that we uphold as Community Associations and Nepalese People are very much reflected in both competitions. All players involved are of Nepalese Origin and though skill and talent play a role, it is the principles of sportsmanship and fair - play that are advanced.

In the heat of competition teams players clash but once off the field all are brothers.

In organizing these annual competitions the organizers, hope to provide a forum for the Nepalese Youth to channel their energies, and develop their skills of teamwork, leadership and communication - skills that can be transferred to daily life.

For a few years now there has been a strong interest in the players of the GNC Soccer Shield and the NAWS Running Shield to play against teams of other communities. Both the GNC and NAWS are strongly in support of this move and would like to support the proposal to field a Nepalese Soccer Team to participate in the Australian Chinese Soccer Association (ACSA) Competition 2005.

Participation in the ACSA competition will encourage the feeling of unity that we all feel as Nepalese. For the first time, there will be one team that all Nepalese will cheer for. The participation of a Nepalese team will not only allow the players to challenge themselves further but participation in this competition will allow the Nepalese Community of Sydney to grow its links and learn from other ethnic communities but mostly it will foster a further sense of Unity among the Nepalese People of Sydney.

What is the ACSA?
Australian Chinese Soccer Association Ltd (ACSA) is a registered non-profit sporting organization established in 1995. ACSA is affiliated to NSW Soccer Federation.

The ACSA was established in 1995 with a view to: ". to promote the sport of soccer, to foster friendships with other Chinese players from all over the world, and to act as a contacting point in Australia for anyone from overseas interested in amateur soccer in the local Chinese communities.."

The GNC and NAWS see this as a great opportunity, not only for the players but also for the Nepalese Community as a whole. We both seek to provide opportunities where the Nepalese Community can unite and show its strength.

Commitments and Responsibilities
The GNC and NAWS have jointly formed a Nepal United Management Committee with the following members:

Administration: Anil Basnet, Bindya Subba, Binod Sharma, Pabi Raj Subba
Managers: Anil Thapa-Magar - Manager / Coach, Bibhod Dotel - Manager / Team Liaison Officer Bishwas Bhattarai - Manager / Team Liaison Officer

Players who have participated in both competitions will advise a preliminary team of players to the Nepal United Management Committee, selection will be based on merit & commitment to the Nepal United team. Atotal of 25 players will be nominated to the Nepal United Team
